Nuclear Industry Buildings and Structures

Thomas Consulting have provided Civil and Structural Engineering Services to the Nuclear Industry for over 10 years, our design work has included the design of new building structures including essential plant facilities, office accommodation, training facilities and workshops including seismic qualification. We regularly undertake assessments of existing structures for the purposes of periodic plant maintenance and access by contractors equipment. Other work includes the inspection and reporting upon the condition of existing structures including sea defence walls and Marine structures including piers and jetties.

Timber Framed Buildings

We have a specialist section of engineers with many years of experience in timber frame building design. Our engineers provide design services for leading timber frame manufacturers using CAD and our own in-house design software. We have designed timber frame buildings up 7 storeys in height and specialise in buildings for apartments, hotels and other institutions. We can provide impartial preliminary advice and assistance to developers regarding the feasibility of using timber frame structures on a particular development or detailed structural design for frame manufacturers.

Public buildings and Places of Worship

We provide design services to many local authorities and public bodies. We are experienced in the design of schools, colleges of higher education, college buildings, public libraries and police authority buildings. Thomas Consulting have provided design services for many places of worship of many different faiths including a £2.5m Gujarati Hindu Society Temple and Community Centre. Our work also includes renovation and refurbishment of older churches and buildings to meet the needs of today's congregations and worshipers.
