Party Wall Advice

Many developments will involve dealing with structure built upon the line of the site boundary or excavations near to adjoining owners structures. The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 places obligations upon building owner where such circumstances arise. Thomas Consulting have experienced senior staff that can advise clients on these obligations and assist the design team in avoiding some of the problems that may arise.

Expert Witness, Adjudication and Arbitration Services

Thomas Consulting partners have developed specialist interest in construction law and provide advice and assistance in respect of arbitration, adjudication and expert witness services. Their knowledge can be beneficial in avoiding some legal pitfalls during development work.

Expert witness and forensic services

We have considerable experience in assessing structural problems and, where necessary, providing expert witness services in litigation, arbitration and adjudication. Our services include; analysis of the problem, long-term prognosis and - if required - recommendations for remedial works. We have engineers who are trained in legal matters, who understand the legal process and who can work alongside a client's lawyers to provide effective and accurate advice.

CDM Planning and Health & Safety

The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 1994 impose requirements on:

  • The developer or the client
  • The design team
  • The contractors

to assess and manage risks and hazards that may be involved in the design and construction process. We can provide advice regarding the management of risk in relation to construction projects and the legal duties imposed upon clients.
