French will not be publishing Eurocode National Annexe in English
Thomas Consulting have been advised by BSI that the French National Annexe will only be available in the French Language.
Thomas Consulting have been appointed to prepare designs for a client exporting buildings to France. To undertake this service we sought a copy of the French National Annexe. We have, on a number of occasions, been previously been advised that it was an EU requirement that the National Annexe must be available in the English Language. BSI have been unable to provide the French National Annexe in English and their Sales Executive issued the following statement; "Following on from your email below, please be advised we have contacted the National Standards Body of France (AFNOR) who has confirmed that the French National Annex’s listed below are only available in French language. French National Annex for NF EN 1991-1-1 ( referenced as NF P 06-111-2:2004) French National Annex NF EN 1991-1-3/NA:2007 French National Annex NF EN 1991-1-4/NA:2008 We will be happy to provide you with a quotation for the above in the French language. Please contact us should you require any further assistance." A primary reason for the introduction of the new codes was to permit free trade throughout the EU construction industry. Many will question why we are being put to the expense and disruption of introducing these codes if language barriers will be permitted to remain and effectively prevent free trade.
