Thomas Consulting Sign Three Year Contracts with British Energy Group
Thomas Consulting have been providing Civil and Structural Engineering Services to British Energy (BE)since 1998. Much of this work has been at the BE's Heysham 1 and Heysham 2 Power Stations although services have been extended to their Torness and Sizewell B Stations since 2005. The majority of the commissions at Heysham 1 and 2 had been procured through the on site Facilities Contractor, however, Thomas Consulting has recently signed new Contracts directly with British Energy Group to provide services to the end of 2012.
Work at Heysham includes:- • Assessment of existing structures, including those of nuclear significance, as required under LOLER for lifting during plant maintenance. • Assessment of existing structures for additional loads imposed from revised or improved plant designs including seismic loading. • The design and detailing of new access ways, stairways and ladders to improve safety in plant access and maintenance. • New Build Design of Offices, Workshops, Training Facilities, Canteens and Plant Houses. • The inspection, testing, appraisal and assessment of existing building, highway and marine structures. • CDM-Coordination under the CDM Regulations 2007. • Contaminated Land Surveying services and Civil Engineering services including drainage design. Thomas Consulting are proud to be continuing to provide a comprehensive range of services to the British Energy Group who provide a valuable contribution to Low Carbon Power Generation.
