Revision of Guidance to the Building Regulations
The Government has commissioned an 18 month research project, to review the way guidance to Building Regulations are provided.
Guidance is presently provided mainly through the Approved Documents and associated publications. The Regulations consist of less than half a dozen pages but the guidance has become extensive and many believe too complicated. The aim of the project will be to rationalise the guidance that has been added to and revised number of times in recent years, particularly in respect of energy conservation and carbon reduction requirements. Part A will also need reviewing as the new Eurocodes are introduced, although we understand that British Standard Codes of Practice are likely to remain part of the approved documents for number of years yet.
