Waldenn Construction moor up at Tewitfield Marina
The first phase of an exciting new development at Twetfield Marina completed in June this year.
Developer and Contractor, Waldenn Construction, are building a development of 63 luxury stone built holiday homes surrounding a 54 berth Canalside Marina.
Local businessman, John Waldie and Richard Dennison formed Waldenn Construction as a joint venture to develop the Tewitfield Marina Site.
Richard Dennison said: "This is one of the only developments of its kind in The South Lakes area"
Under construction on former Greenfield land beside the Lancaster Canal, Tewitfield Marina is a unique development in a breathtaking setting on the Lancashire and Cumbria border.
It is in this magnificent setting that Waldenn Construction began work on their £12M development back in June 2006. Working closely with British Waterways, and built to their guidelines and specification, the development is located on a bend in the riverbed. Built on sand and gravel ground, the conditions were good with reinforced steel supporting the buildings.
Aiming to create the ideal holiday destination the properties are located in six blocks of one-, two- and three bedrooms, with four of the blocks directly fronting the marina. The design adopts a boating theme with exposed fixings and ship clad timber on the front elevations. From above, the buildings look like ships resting at the Marina.
Built using natural quarried stone with slate roofs, the buildings feature double glazed windows with low E argon filled, oak frames. Indeed, energy efficient is a guiding principle of the scheme. Following the completion of the EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) survey. Estate Graphics reported that the showhome had the highest ratings of any property they had surveyed at the time - and after completing over 2,000 surveys in the North West that is an impressive feat.
The quality feel of the exterior continues inside where exposed beams, oak staircases, balustrades and doors are complimented by high specification kitchens and bathrooms, creating the perfect luxurious holiday retreat.
The project has been backed by Yorkshire Bank who helped finance the site acquisition and the continuing development costs.
