Harper Adams Agricultural College

A slurry bag which was installed at Harper Adams Agricultural College in Newport Shropshire. This was to replace the existing slurry pond.

The bag was made in Germany by Albers Alligator and is 62m x 30m in size, and one of only two that have been installed in this country. We had to design the bund for the bag to be installed in, extend the existing slurry drain to outfall into a new slurry chamber. From this chamber the slurry is pumped into the bag for storage, and then pumped back to the wash down area, which we also designed where it is used for spreading on the fields.

We are doing further drainage work for Harper Adams Agricultural College in tracing the drainage routes and producing a design to divert uncontaminated surface water form the slurry areas as too much surface water is going into the slurry bag.
